Today’s one is a bit of a long one so hang in there because I’ll give you some great tips on how to actually dream your ideal life and start enjoying the life of your dreams.
Everyone has secret hopes and dreams for themselves. Weird and wacky, deep and spiritual, altruistic and powerful, our dreams come in all shapes and sizes and they are uniquely ours. And, most (discounting the certifiably crazy ones) are totally Ok with the universe.
Whether its as simple as shower curtains with skull motifs on them, a new Harley Davidson, a million dollar yacht, a shack in the mountains or an island, a pair of Bettina Lianos, or things like love, service, connection – everyone, yes everyone has hopes and dreams.
Granted our hopes and dreams look very different on the surface but they are all variations upon a theme, actually the same thing – the search for personal expression and meaning in life. Its all about meaning and purpose, propelling us forward. Hence why it’s incredibly valuable to take time reflecting upon some of the bigger things in life, in order to clarify to your subconscious which way you want the rest of it to play out.
Any external stimuli will do for the old subconscious mind. It doesn’t care what you put in it will faithfully direct you along the path you show it. Your subconscious mind is not biased to what is good and what is not good for you –it takes it’s lead from the things you put in. What you do in your daily life, your actions and behaviours, shape your present. What you witness in your daily life determines the scope you enjoy in the future. What you think about shapes the world we all experience.
But lets take a step back for a moment. What do I mean by external stimuli? The people you meet and mix with, the magazines and books you read, the television and movies you watch, the food you eat, the clothes you wear – all of it. Every life has a general theme running through it, and the easiest way to discover your current theme is to imagine your life (as it really is, and has been up until now) as a best selling movie.
What is your movie about? Would you want to go and see your movie? Would it make you laugh or cry, get depressed or inspired, or all of the above? Now, project forward. What scene are you up to in your movie? The love scene perhaps. The hero faces his challenge, makes millions or wins the race scenes. Maybe you are at another exciting twist or turn with still yet unknown results?
Where ever you find yourself in the movie of your life, you can start, day by day, writing the rest of it, more in tune with the movie you’d prefer to star in.Your metamorphosis from today’s reality to living the life of your dreams can be as groundbreaking or as slow as you want. Realising your life is YOUR movie to write, allows you to become better at getting and focusing on what should be in it next. The scenery and backgrounds you intend to use, the props, other actors, and general scenes and story lines.
Now, if looking at your movie wasn’t such a pleasant experience in parts, there’s not much to be done about it now as there’s no time to re-shoot scenes. You’ll just have to focus on what’s coming up next and what you are enjoying right now in the movie. If you were unhappy or bored with your last couple of scenes or even the whole thing thus far, how could the next one differ to illustrate a change for the better was coming?
Conversely, if you are already blessed to love your current life movie, what does the next scene hold to suggest it’s going to rise to new and magnificent heights? An effective way to influence the subconscious (and thereby your conscious choices, actions and behaviours) is to show it all of the things you want to be, do, and enjoy in the future. It will diligently go about directing you that way.
I’ll share with you today a really quick and easy way to do this in a structured and focused way. You will immediately harness the law of attraction and get better results full stop. Unfortunately many people out there (guilty here too, from time to time) just allow random information to get plugged in. It’s far more enjoyable and satisfying to consider what you need for your own movie rather than getting distracted by everyone else’s.
Consider whether you have the right ‘actors’ for the next scene in your movie or whether you need to hold some auditions for some more or replacement ones. Have you found the locations that are right for your next scene? Do you even know what the next scene is?It doesn’t matter what your movie has been about up until now, you can change it slowly by rearranging the next scene, and the next and the next. You can dream it up as you go along.
Now I promised you a quick and easy way to do all of this and here it is. Take five minutes out now to think about your life movie – better still WRITE IT DOWN. Writing it down will improve the effectiveness of this exercise a gazillion fold. It’s a fantastic first, and repeat step, to getting the subconscious mind working more in the direction of your real wants and needs. By putting more appropriate stuff in, you’ll suddenly find yourself smack-bang in the next scene of your movie and think, wow, this thing is getting better.
In essence, you are simply programming the most awesome tool in the known universe to work in the way it was intended.I talk in more detail about all this in the uROk 33 Day Challenge but for now, the quick win of writing your life script will do wonders for your mind, body and soul in the meantime. See your ultimate life movie in as much detail as you can. Visualise your life movie as often as you can. In fact, if you like, click into our shop for the Contribution and Achievement guided visualisation CD ‘Dream Your Life, Live Your Dream’.
If you’re not familiar with a guided visualisation, allow me. Firstly, I get you to physically relax to a very deep level where all tension leaves and you ‘lose’ your body, it is so relaxed. The objective being to get your brain into the slower, but much more creative, brainwaves ranging from Alpha to Theta. Out of the fast, every day Theta waves, so that you can actually ‘see’ the movie of your life. Imagining your ideal life is made easier for you with the help of a stunning soundscape and meditative voice prompts to guide you. A word of caution about the CD however, don’t listen it while you’re driving or doing other stuff like that.
Lots of people report falling asleep when they first start using ‘Dream Your Life, Live Your Dream’, Many say they found it a healing experience none-the-less to deeply relax to that level, so it’s no problem if it take a few times to reach the end. Others tell me of the deep and profound emotions they experience, and how uplifted and positive they feel at the end. Like millions of others who use visualisation, I love the process, and find it extremely effective, to be repeatedly dreaming my life and actually living those dreams as a result. I know you’ll enjoy more inspiring and memorable scenes in the movie of your life if you decide to take it up too.
In any case, I did say todays blog was going to be on the long side but I hope you got some good ideas as a result. Remember to check out the uROk 33 Day Challenge in the shop for a complete do-it-yourself programme to help you Dream Your Life and Live Your Dream.
